STEM fields have high attrition rates, and members of underrepresented groups often struggle to complete their degrees. Harris-Stowe State University has received an HBCU-UP grant to develop experiences and courses for students that will lower this attrition rate. Scott will discuss efforts at creating a discovery-based curriculum for introductory biology labs that emphasizes retention of first-year students.
