IDEA FIT 2016
May 25-26 / Danforth CampusInclusion and Diversity to Engage All: Faculty Institute on Teaching (IDEA FIT) was a 2-day institute focused on inclusion in teaching and learning. IDEA FIT 2016 took place May 25-26, from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. on the Danforth Campus of Washington University.
IDEA FIT 2016 drew 17 participants from 3 different schools and disciplines, with faculty attending from the departments of Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Emergency Medicine, Environmental Studies, History, Occupational Therapy, Physics, Psychological & Brain Sciences, Romance Languages and Literatures, and the Center for Interprofessional Practice & Education.
The institute combined interactive workshops and working-group sessions in which faculty participants collaborated to develop or refine course materials, assignments, or in-class activities that can improve the learning environment—whether learning occurs in classrooms, laboratories, studios, community-based courses or field-research. IDEA FIT offered faculty across the disciplines an opportunity to learn about evidence-based strategies that can foster inclusion in teaching and learning.
This institute is supported by the Office of the Provost.
If you have any questions about the institute, please contact Beth Fisher, Director of Academic Services, The Teacher Center.
