The Grading Process: Designing or Refining Your Approach

What adjustments can you make to your grading approach to help you grade efficiently while giving students clear feedback on their learning and achievement? This workshop will give participants an opportunity to
Reflect on the purpose and meaning of grades (for both faculty and students)
Develop ideas for designing a grading approach that is connected to course objectives
Refine strategies for increasing efficiency in grading and for discussing grades with students.

Participants will receive copies of Barbara E. Walvoord and Virginia Johnson Anderson, Effective Grading (Jossey-Bass); and J.C. Ory and Katherine Ryan, Tips for Improving Testing and Grading (Sage).
Refreshments will be served.
