Preparing and Delivering a Teaching Talk or Demonstration for a Campus Interview
Tuesday, December 13th, 2016
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Danforth campus location TBA
A campus visit invitation from a search committee is welcome news, but it often comes with a challenging request for a “teaching talk” or “teaching demo.” In this workshop, participants will discuss what makes an effective teaching demonstration and strategies for preparing a talk that highlights their approaches to teaching. Participants will learn questions to ask the institution before the visit, how to design a talk that is appropriate for each audience and purpose, and how to include student interaction and other methods of demonstrating your effectiveness as an instructor.
Registration is required, and seating is limited. Registration will open on November 29, 2016.
Presenters: Michelle Repice, Ph.D., Assistant Director, The Teaching Center and Bryn Lutes, Ph.D., Assistant Director, The Teaching Center
