Teaching in an American Classroom (Medical Campus Afternoon)
Thursday, April 11th, 2019
3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
FLTC 302, Medical Campus
Introductory Level; Provides preparation for Mentored Teaching Experience and foundation in effective teaching strategies
Graduate students from foreign countries come to US universities and colleges skilled and knowledgeable in their respective disciplinary expertise. However, the lack of familiarity with American classroom expectations, customs and norms can create difficulties and challenges in teaching. This workshop is intended to help narrow the culture and communication gap that graduate students experience when teaching in American classrooms for the first time. All graduate students who wish to improve their cultural competencies are welcome to this workshop.
Facilitator: Dr. Denise Leonard, Associate Director for Graduate Student and Postdoc Programs
Registration will open two weeks prior to the workshop. For questions, please contact Dr. Denise Leonard.
