A campus visit invitation from a search committee is welcome news, but it often comes with a challenging request for a “teaching talk” or “teaching demo.” In this workshop, participants will discuss what makes an effective teaching demonstration and strategies for preparing a talk that highlights their approaches to teaching. Participants will learn questions to ask the institution before the visit, how to design a talk that is appropriate for each audience and purpose, and how to include student interaction and other methods of demonstrating your effectiveness as an instructor.
Facilitator: Dr. Meg Gregory, Assistant Director of Academic Services, The Teaching Center
