Advanced-Level; Satisfies requirements for the Teaching Citation and PiP Programs
As educators, we want students to think critically about what they hear, watch, and read, but how do we help our students navigate a media-driven world of “fake news,” unreliable sources, and viral meme sharing? This workshop draws on recent research related to promoting media literacy across disciplinary classrooms through class activities, assignments, and readings. Participants will discuss issues surrounding media literacy, and examine strategies for helping students develop their media literacy toolbox so that they approach texts critically and carefully.
