How to Clear a Cache in a Browser
Please scroll down to your browser of choice and follow the directions to clear a cache in that browser.
Google Chrome
- Open chrome.
- On the upper-right side of the screen, click the three vertical dots, then move the mouse over More tools and click Clear browsing data (in older versions of Google Chrome, Clear browsing data may be found under History).
- In the Clear browsing data menu, check the boxes you wish to clear. To only clear cached data, it is recommended that you check the Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data boxes. Click Clear Browsing Data. Note: be careful to only check the boxes that you wish to clear. You may not want to clear your Passwords, for example.
Firefox
- Open firefox.
- On the upper right of the screen, click the three lines stacked on each other, then select Options. Note: If using a mac, select Settings on the bottom right of the home page.
- On the left side of the page, select Privacy & Security. Scroll down to find the Cache Web Content section. Click Clear Now. Note: Privacy may be separate from Security, if so, select Privacy, then under History click Clear Recent History.
Safari
- Open safari
- Click Safari in the upper-left of the screen, then select Preferences.
- Select the Privacy tab in the top middle of the new window, then click the Remove All Website Data (versions 8-10) button or the Manage Website Data (version 10).
- After clicking the Remove All Website Data button, click Remove Now.
- After clicking the Manage Website Data button, either choose specific data to clear and click Remove or click Remove All (recommended). Click Done.
Microsoft Edge
- Open edge.
- Click the hub icon (A star with 4 lines through it) in the upper right of the screen, then select the history icon (a clock with a circular arrow around it). Click Clear all history.
- In the new box, check all of the boxes that you wish to clear. Select Clear. Note: please be careful to uncheck any information that you do not wish to clear, such as Passwords.
Internet Explorer
- Open internet explorer.
- Click on the tools (gear icon) button in the upper-right of the screen, select Safety, select Delete browsing history.
- In the new box, check all of the boxes that you wish to clear, then, select Delete. Note: Please be careful to uncheck any information that you do not wish to clear, such as Passwords and Preserve Favorites website data.
