Use the Course Calendar

Please note: Due to continual Blackboard updates, you may notice slight differences in color theme and other appearance features when comparing the screenshots below to what you see in Blackboard.
Instructors can use the Blackboard Calendar to remind students of course assignments, exams, and events. Instructors and students also have the option of adding personal calendars that cannot be viewed by others. The advantage of using the Blackboard Calendar is that course, institutional, and personal calendars are combined in one place.
Q: How do I create a link to the course calendar?
1. Log in to Blackboard at blackboard.wustl.edu.
2. Click on the title of your course in the My Courses module.
3. Click on the “+ bar” to add a menu item, and select Tool Link.
4. Give the link a name like “Course Calendar” and select Calendar from the dropbox options under Type. Check “Available to Users” and click Submit.
Q: How do I add an event to the calendar?
1. Log in to Blackboard at blackboard.wustl.edu.
2. Click on the title of your course in the My Courses module.
3. Select the link you created for your calendar, if you have not created a calendar link see above.
4. On the left hand side of the calendar page you should calendars for all the courses you are a part of, as well as your personal calendar, and an institutional calendar. You can hide calendars by unchecking the box next to the calendar you do not wish to see.
5. To add an event to a calendar click the “+ sign” on the right hand side of the calendar page.
6. Provide a name for the event, select the calendar your wish the event to appear in, fill in the date and time of the event, and add any notes if your wish. Click Save.
7. Events on your private calendar are only visible to you. Events in a course calendar are visible to all students enrolled in the course. Students cannot edit or change events in the course calendar.
