The Teaching Center is seeking to hire 1 or 2 graduate students to provide Blackboard support for faculty starting January 2016. Each student will work 6-10 hours per week to provide “walk-in” assistance for faculty who visit a Blackboard help-desk in Olin library. Each will also assist in other Blackboard-support tasks, such as creating and updating support documentation, throughout the Spring 2016 semester.
excellent written and oral communication skills
proficiency with standard office software, such as MS-Word and MS-Excel
proficiency with, or ability to learn, basic image creation (screenshots and/or screencasts)
Candidates must be able to work effectively independently and as part of a team. A strong preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of how to use Blackboard as an instructor (not required). Applications are encouraged from graduate students who are interested in teaching, technology, and instructional design.
The support team for faculty walk-in help will be stationed in Olin Library and available to faculty from the week before classes start (January 14, 2016) through the end of the semester. Training for these positions will begin as early as possible, depending on availability. Help desk hours will vary throughout the semester, occurring between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
If interested, please apply ASAP by sending a cover letter outlining your interest in and qualifications for the position, a current CV, and a list of 3 references (all in pdf format) to Dr. Bryn Lutes at firstname.lastname@example.org. **Please also indicate the hours you are available before the start of the semester (January 14 and 15) and after the start of the semester (January 19 and beyond).** Applications will be accepted immediately and until positions are filled.
