Mary Stewart joined The Teaching Center in 2007. Before coming to Washington University, she was the coordinator of faculty for the OPTIONS program at Fontbonne University.
As office coordinator for The Teaching Center and The Center for Integrative Research on Cognition, Learning, and Education (CIRCLE), Mary provides administrative assistance on all programs and services. She manages payroll and tracks and administers the centers’ budgets and assists with the development of yearly budget plans. She also provides administrative support for the executive director of The Teaching Center and for the co-directors of CIRCLE.
Mary coordinates and provides technical support for faculty teaching in University-managed classrooms, as well as faculty using Blackboard. She also hires and schedules The Teaching Center’s student workers who videotape courses and staff the front-desk.
Mary lends her expertise to the ensure the success of events such as faculty summer institutes on teaching, the biannual iTeach symposium, CIRCLE’s national conferences, faculty and graduate-student workshops, and TA Orientation. Mary’s passion about women in STEM also helps make possible the “Catalysts for Change” science program for St. Louis-area high-school girls each April.
Mary is also the center’s liaison for HR, information technology staff, the campus police, and other campus partners.
Mary earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Fontbonne University in 2007.
