Resources for International Graduate Students

The office of English Language Programs (ELP) at Washington University provides a broad array of programs that can help international graduate students develop effective teaching and communication skills. These programs include

  • Courses in English-language and communication skills, including U.S. culture in the college classroom, presentation skills, pronunciation, American idioms and slang, and Academic writing;
  • Workshops co-sponsored by departments;
  • Individualized tutoring;
  • Conversation-partner programs;and
  • Guidance on professional-development topics, such as preparing for academic job interviews and improving presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
