Join colleagues and Teaching Center staff for lunch and sustained cross-disciplinary conversation on critical topics in teaching and learning.
Faculty Reading Community (FRC) discussion this spring will draw on chapters from Make it Stick: The Science of Successful Learning, which draws on recent discoveries in cognitive psychology and other disciplines in order to offer concrete techniques for helping students in all fields become more productive learners.
Faculty participants who commit to attending at least three sessions will receive a copy of the book, along with executive summaries of relevant chapters.
Meetings will be over lunch, from noon-1pm on the following Thursdays:
Feb. 7: Chapter 1: Learning is Misunderstood
Feb 21: Chapter 2: To Learn, Retrieve
March 7: Chapter 3: Mix Up Your Practice
March 21: Chapter 4: Embrace Difficulties
April 4: Chapter 6: Get Beyond Learning Styles
