To an instructor, every minute of class time is a precious commodity. Yet, sometimes it can feel like it takes students 10 or 15 minutes to settle into your class before you can event get to the content you want to cover. This workshop will discuss reasons why reconsidering the way you structure the first 15 minutes of class can change how students engage throughout the rest of the class. Participants will learn about varied approaches to making the most of the beginning of class and brainstorm strategies to use in their own teaching.
