Advanced-Level; Satisfies requirements for the Professional Development in Teaching program
In this advanced-level workshop, participants will learn about key research findings that shed light on the experiences of diverse undergraduates in STEM fields. Issues to be addressed include “stereotype threat,” assumptions, and biases—and how these phenomena can affect student achievement and the retention of students in STEM majors. The workshop will culminate in an opportunity to design a framework for creating inclusive learning environments in the STEM classroom.
