Research demonstrates that active engagement in class activities improves student learning and performance. But what can we do to ensure that all students participate? This workshop for faculty will focus on strategies that may be applied in any classroom to foster full participation and engagement.
Topics will include:
Creating and maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and challenging learning environment
Planning a structure for each class session, with varied activities that are designed to foster engagement
Helping students prepare for active participation
Facilitating respectful interaction and collaboration among students
Incentivizing student participation
Gathering feedback and revising your methods in response to feedback
