What adjustments can you make to your grading approach to help you grade efficiently while giving students clear feedback on their learning and achievement? This workshop will give participants an opportunity to
Discuss the purpose and meaning of grades, for both faculty and students
Develop ideas for designing a grading approach that is connected to course objectives
Refine strategies for increasing effectiveness in grading and in discussing grades with students.
Presenter: Beth Fisher, Ph.D., Director of Academic Services, The Teaching Center; Lecturer in Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies Program
Participants will receive copies of Barbara E. Walvoord and Virginia Johnson Anderson, Effective Grading (Jossey-Bass); and J.C. Ory and Katherine Ryan, Tips for Improving Testing and Grading (Sage). Refreshments will be served.
