The Teaching Center offers confidential consultations on teaching-related topics to all faculty, staff, graduate students, and postdocs affiliated with Washington University in St. Louis. The Teaching Center is happy to do individual and group consultations on any topic related to teaching.
In-person or virtual consultations routinely cover topics such as:
Strategies for engaging students and promoting classroom participation
Feedback on your teaching (following up on Teaching Observations)
Using technology effectively in your teaching
Developing accessible course content and materials aligned with the principles of Universal Design for Learning
Teaching-related job market materials
The Teaching Center Professional Development in Teaching Program
Observation and Feedback on Classroom Teaching
The Teaching Center conducts observations of teaching, via video-recording or in-class observations. When discussing video-recordings with instructors, Teaching Center staff can tailor feedback towards aspects of the instruction that instructors wish to focus on. After the consultation, an MP4 file of the recording will be provided to the faculty member. All recordings are confidential.
Scheduling a Consultation
To schedule a consultation, please fill out the consultation request form. Faculty and staff may indicate their interest in an observation in the consultation request form. Graduate students and postdocs should fill out a request for video recording and indicate that they wish to receive Teaching Center feedback on that form.
