Gephardt Institute Funding Available for One-Day Institute

Gephardt Institute funding of $1500 per departmental team at Washington University in St. Louis is available to attend an institute from the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) in Chicago on November 15. Like the AAC&U, the Gephardt Institute is excited to promote opportunities for departments to “scaffold opportunities across the major for students to engage with public questions; work with diverse others to address pressing local, national, or global issues; and prepare to enter their workplaces with a heightened sense of public responsibility.”

In order to receive funding to participate, three to five-person teams from your department must apply by October 1 to the AAC&U Institute on Civic Prompts in the Major: Designs in Social Responsibility and the Public Good and be selected to participate. Upon selection, please forward your acceptance to Cassie Power, Ph.D., Associate Director for Faculty and Academic Engagement at the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement (cpower@wustl.edu), along with a copy of the application that you submitted.

Dr.  Power is also happy to work with teams to put together applications, will be available to attend the Institute, and will be thrilled to work with the teams upon returning from the Institute as they extend their planning and put their plans into practice. Note that the Gephardt Institute has Course Development Grants of $5000 that could support further advancement of your curricular departmental plans.
